The Yankee Franchise has come to represent or symbolize a winning tradition, pride, and excellence and it stands for baseball- America’s favorite past time. The reason why the Yankees symbolize a winning tradition, pride, and excellence is because they are the only franchise in sports who have won 39 pennants and 26 World Series Championships. Another reason why they symbolize a winning tradition, pride, and excellence is because many famous stars that are known in baseball Hall of Fame have played for the Yankees. Some of those players are Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe Di Maggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Reggie Jackson, Don Mattingly, and future Hall of Famer who is a former Yankee, Derek Jeter. These are a few of the greatest players in baseball that have played for the Yankees.

The reason why the Old Yankee Stadium was built during the early 1920’s was because the relationship between the New York Giants, which was the home field of the Giants, called the Polo Grounds where the Yankees were the tenants, and the New York Yankees relationship deteriorated because “after the 1920 season when Yankee attendance boosted by their new slugging sensation doubled to 1,289,422 that was over 100,000 more than the Giants”. That new slugging sensation was Babe Ruth, who changed the way baseball was played. In 1921 the Yankees were told by the Giants to vacate the Polo Grounds as soon as possible, because of this situation the Yankees Co-owners Jacob Ruppert and Tillinghast I’Hommedieu Huston planed to build an amazing ballpark. They planned to build “baseball first triple-decked structure. With an advertised capacity of 70,000”. The Old Yankee Stadium was the first ballpark to be labeled a Stadium. Some of the striking architectural features that the Old Yankee Stadium has are the stadium triple-decked all around from foul pole to foul pole. Also the visible elevated trains that passed behind the outfield as well as the buildings that will rise behind the stadium across the River Avenue. One important architectural feature that the Yankees will have in there Stadium is the “15 foot deep copper façade would adorn the front of the roof which covered much of the stadium third deck. The reason why people from around the world want to visit the old Yankee Stadium is because they want to see the field where many of the greatest players in baseball played. They also want to recapture the memories that they may have of the famous baseball games that have been recorded in the Old Yankee Stadium. Some of those game might be, when Don Larsen pitched the only perfect game ever recorded in the World Series or when the Yankees defeated the Mets in 5 games. To win there 26 World Series Championship. Another reason why people around the world will want to visit the Old Yankee Stadium is because they might want to walk in the same field where great players like Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, or Marino Rivera walk and play one of the greatest sports in the American Culture, which is baseball.
